3 takeaways from the Pelicans thriller vs. the Bucks
The New Orleans Pelicans won their second in a row in thrilling fashion with an overtime win over the shorthanded Bucks.
Milwaukee was missing Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton, so this was a game the Pels should have won, but someone forgot to tell former Pelican Jrue Holiday, who went off for 40 points in their absence.
It took a little bit of everything for the Pels to get it done, from Josh Hart‘s hustle to DeVonte’ Graham’s clutch shooting, so this win was truly a team effort.
The Pels are starting to click even without Zion Williamson and what appeared to be a lost season has been injected with a small amount of hope.
Here are three takeaways from the Pelicans win over the Bucks.
The New Orleans Pelicans will make the play-in tournament
Don’t look now, but the Pels are just 2.5 games behind the Kings for the final play-in spot and I think they are going to get it.
The Pelicans are 9-9 since Brandon Ingram returned from injury, and with him playing like an MVP candidate, are better than any of the teams directly in front of them.
One benefit to losing your best player for the season is that other guys get the chance to step up and the Pels have responded behind coach Willie Green in the absence of their star.
Players are carving out roles for themselves and this team suddenly looks frisky.
I’ve been saying this for a while, but the Pelicans are going to make the play-in, and who knows, if Zion Williamson can come back in March in time for the playoffs, this team just might make some noise.
Either way, they have something to play for and with over 50 games left, are still in the mix for the postseason.
