The  New Orleans Pelicans and Boston Celtics will kick off a full slate of NBA games today as the league celebrates MLK Day.

The Celtics and Pelicans have been two of the most disappointing teams in the NBA this season, as the Pels have struggled at times without Zion Williamson in the lineup and the Celtics have been mediocre even though they’ve mostly been at full strength.

The Pels are coming off a road loss to the Nets, while the Celtics most recent game was a win against the shorthanded Bulls.

The Pelicans are just 6-16 away from home this season, while the Celtics are 14-8 at home, so this will be a tough matchup for the Pels.

Boston will be missing Marcus Smart, who is in COVID protocol, and New Orleans will still me missing Zion, who has yet to play this season and may not.

Can the Pelicans shake off their road woes and get a much-needed win against the Celtics?

New Orleans Pelicans vs. Boston Celtics: Odds, spread, over/under

According to WynnBET, the Pels are six point underdogs on the road against the Celtics, surprisingly low given NOLA’s record on the road, but more of a testament to the lack of faith in Boston.

The money lines are set at +200 for the Pelicans and -250 for the Celtics. I always say that if you think the underdog can win outright, then just bet them to do so, as six points isn’t much and you’ll get better odds.

The over/under is 215, right in between the combined points scored and allowed by these two teams, so it seems pretty much dead on.

I don’t see a lot of value bets here, as the Pels are just too sketchy on the road, but like I said, bet them to win outright if you feel the need to bet them at all.

I do like some of the matchups for the Pelicans with Marcus Smart out. Look for double-double machine Josh Hart to keep it going and I have a hunch Devonte’ Graham is due for a big game if you are looking for a low-cost play in daily fantasy.

Brandon Ingram has struggled against the Celtics in his nine games against them, so it might be a day to give him a rest and opt for Jonas Valanciunas instead, as he is very reliable and has been great on the road this season.
