Would a move make much difference for the New Orleans Pelicans?

If Zion Williamson does not return, there might not be a move out there that would really move the needle for the New Orleans Pelicans.

For all of the talk, it’s hard for me to imagine a McCollum/Fox type deal going down, so if the Pelicans do make a move, it might be more for bench depth.

This team has been scrappy this season, and they definitely have the right types of role players to put around Zion and BI, but without Williamson, would adding another role player really make a difference?

It’s easy to say the Pels are one player away from being a playoff team when the player we are talking about is Zion Williamson, but if the player is a bench guy, I don’t see that being enough vault the Pelicans in the standings.

Again, if the right move is there, I am sure Griffin will pounce, but he shouldn’t shuffle things around just for the sake of making a move, as the Pelicans are building some nice chemistry with this group and one more guy (unless it is a star) is probably not going to matter much this season.

There is one more reason the Pelicans might be compelled to stay quiet at the deadline.
