5 questions for the New Orleans Pelicans to answer in final 23 games

#2: Will Herb Jones make the All-Rookie or All-Defense teams?

One of the biggest bright spots of the season has been Herbert Jones, who has been the steal of the draft and the best second-round pick in the league this season.

He’s been a mainstay of the Rookie Ladder, and his improved offense has turned some heads over the last few weeks.

Will that be enough to get him on the All-Rookie team? If I had to guess now, I’d say he will make the second team, as he has impressed a lot of people with his defense and ability to change games on both ends.

The All-Defense team will be a harder lineup to crack, as rookies rarely get the benefit of the doubt over established players. I think Jones is probably a year away from making All-Defense just because a lot of people still don’t know who he is, but The Straight Jacket will get there soon.

#3: Will CJ McCollum and Brandon Ingram find a groove?

McCollum has played just five games with the New Orleans Pelicans, but he didn’t waste any time taking over the offense.

He’s averaged 28 points per game so far, and has been the focal point of the offense since coming to New Orleans.

While McCollum has scored 30 or more in 3-of-5 games, Brandon Ingram has been taking fewer shots and has only cracked 20 points once since McCollum joined the team.

B.I. has been the initiator and primary scoring option for the Pelicans all season, but has scored just 15, 22, 10, 18 and 12 points in the five games with McCollum.

This does not concern me, as it will take some time to figure it out, but it would be nice for them to feed off each other in these final 23 games and find a rhythm in a two-man game.
