The New Orleans Pelicans lost two games in a row before the All-Star break and hope to end that streak when play resumes on Friday.

The sport itself has been on the back burner for the Pelicans lately, as there has been a seemingly endless onslaught of news and speculation about Zion Williamson, who has yet to play a game for the Pels this season.

It would help if Zion would speak up, but he at least reportedly contacted CJ McCollum, which was part of what started the frenzy.

Hopefully, the New Orleans Pelicans can drown out the noise, as they have 23 games to claw their way into the play-in tournament, which should be the goal for he remainder of what has been a weird season.

The Pelicans appear to be done marketing Zion Williamson for now. light. Related Story

Luckily, they might catch a break in the first games back, which are crucial road matchups against the Suns and Lakers.

New Orleans Pelicans schedule: Pels finally catch some injury luck

Few teams in the NBA have been as unlucky with injuries as the New Orleans Pelicans, but they will finally catch a break in the first two upcoming games.

The Pels are back to full strength (minus Zion of course) and will be facing two teams that are missing stars for the foreseeable future.

In Friday’s game in Phoenix, the Suns will be missing former Pelican Chris Paul, who fractured his thumb and is going to be out for 6-8 weeks, a devastating blow to the Suns, who currently have the best record in the NBA.

They were rolling, winning 9-of-10 before Paul’s injury, so it will be interesting to see how they perform without their leader.

In Sunday’s game against the Lakers, Anthony Davis will be out with a sprained foot that will keep him out for at least a month.

The Lakers are one of the teams the Pelicans are chasing, so this will be a key matchup for New Orleans, one made easier by the absence of Anthony Davis.

This certainly doesn’t ensure the New Orleans Pelicans will win these games, as they have been bad on the road this season, but catching these two teams at the right time will increase their chances of getting off to a good start to the home stretch.
