Pelicans stock market after 3-game skid: Who is trending?
Pelicans stock market: March 10, 2022
The starters
Jaxson Hayes-Trending down
Hayes hasn’t been terrible since moving to the starting lineup, but he hasn’t done much with his minutes either. I keep waiting for him to have a big game, but he is struggling to find a role in the offense and is not cleaning up the glass as I thought he would. The Pels were out-rebounded again last night and Hayes only added four. He’s running the floor hard but right now he’s not making much of an impact.
Jonas Valanciunas-Trending up
Valaciunas just keeps grinding and is having one of his best all-around seasons. He stepped up last night, pouring in 30 points and grabbing 15 rebounds with two blocks and two steals, and was the only Pelican with a positive net rating.
Herb Jones-Trending up
He’s only a rookie but we’ve already started taking his consistency for granted. He scored 15 last night against the Magic and should take on a bigger offensive role with Ingram out.
CJ McCollum-Trending up
No complaints about CJ McCollum so far, as he just continues to put up 30 points a night. His role will also increase with Ingram out, so expect more gaudy stats from CJ.
Brandon Ingram-Trending down
ARRRRRRRRGH!!! Just as the Pels were starting to roll, Ingram hurts his hamstring and will have to miss at least a week. He’ll be re-evaluated in seven to 10 days, so could possibly be back for the March 18 game vs. San Antonio but that would be a best-case scenario.
