Pelicans betting odds vs. Suns: Will CJ McCollum play?
The New Orleans Pelicans will finish their four-game home stand tonight against the Phoenix Suns, hopefully one step closer to full strength.
Brandon Ingram is still out but will be re-evaluated in a day or two, so could be back soon. CJ McCollum has been upgraded to questionable on the NBA injury report, so we could see him back in action tonight against the Suns.
He would be a welcome addition, as the Pels were able to beat the lowly Rockets with their role players but will need more firepower to take down the Suns. New Orleans beat Phoenix in the last matchup but they will be missing the 28 points they got from Ingram.
The Suns will be without Chris Paul and Cameron Johnson, so if they get CJ back, the Pels will stand fighting chance.
By the looks of the odds, the books aren’t sure if he’ll play either.
New Orleans Pelicans vs. Phoenix Suns: Odds, spread, over/under and best bets
According to WynnBET, the Pels are 5.5 underdogs at home tonight against the Phoenix Suns.
This spread is a pretty good indication that CJ’s status is still up in the air, as it is probably in between where it would be if they knew for sure he was playing or not.
The money lines are set at -250 for Phoenix and +185 for New Orleans, but I would take the points if you like the Pelicans in this one.
The over/under is 225 points and I like the under in this one even though both teams have been scoring a lot of points over their last three games. They are only allowing around 216 points combined on the season and only scored 219 in their last meeting and that was with Ingram playing.
I like the Pelicans with the points and the under in this one, hoping that the Pels eek out a close one at home. If McCollum doesn’t play, just stick to the under.
CJ McCollum scored 32 points the last time these two teams played, but if he plays at all, he’ll be coming off health and safety protocol and might not be back to full strength. Check his injury status right before the game, but he’s probably a stay away in this one.
That makes Jonas Valanciunas the best of your high-end daily fantasy bets for the Pelicans, as he had 18 points and 17 rebounds in the last meeting and should have another big game with an expanded role in the offense.
Jaxson Hayes had one of his best games of the season against the Rockets and hopefully has some momentum going into this one. He could be in for another big night if he keeps his energy level high on the defensive end and gets out in transition against the smaller Suns.
Hayes is my pick for a low-cost fantasy play vs. the Suns.
