The New Orleans Pelicans will play the second game of a road back-to-back tonight in Charlotte against the Hornets with streaks for both teams on the line.

The Pels have a modest two-game winning streak, both on the road, while the Hornets have won four in a row.

This will be gut-check time for the Pelicans, who will still be without Brandon Ingram but have managed to jump into the 9th seed anyway as the Lakers continue to slide.

The Pels have been getting huge contributions from CJ McCollum, Jonas Valanciunas and Herbert Jones, but lately the role players have stepped up as well, as Jaxson Hayes is enjoying one of the best stretches of his young career, Jose Alvarado continues to consistently make an impact and Naji Marshall has played better of late.

It took everyone to hold on and get the win yesterday against the Hawks, but can the Pelicans rally and do it again today against the red-hot Hornets?

New Orleans Pelicans vs. Charlotte Hornets: odds, spread, over/under and best bets

According to WynnBET, the New Orleans Pelicans are six point underdogs on the road against the Charlotte Hornets.

The money lines are set at +200 for the Pels and -250 for the Hornets, who are expected to take care of business on the road against a team on short rest.

The over/under is 234, which seems high considering these two teams average 224 combined on offense for the season and allow 224 on defense.

But they have scored a combined 244 points over their last three games, and hit 262 the last time they played, so I’d still take the over and expect a run and shoot game even though the Pels are on the second game of a back-to-back.

I like the Pelicans with the points and the over in this one, as New Orleans continues to try and build momentum for the play-in.

Not much has changed in daily fantasy. With Brandon Ingram still out, Jonas Valanciunas and CJ McCollum are your best high-end bets. Valanciunas has been on a tear and continues to be a guaranteed double double pretty much every night.

I will continue to push Jaxson Hayes as the best low-cost play, as he’s been filling the stat sheet with rebounds and blocks and has been the beneficiary of the increased attention paid to Valanciunas, which led to six offensive rebounds and 12 overall in the last game.
