New Orleans Pelicans trends at the end of March

The bench

Larry Nance-Trending up

Larry Nance has already made an impact off the bench with his scrappy play, rebounding and defensive IQ. He’s already the vocal defensive leader of the bench unit and he’s only played a couple of games. Let’s hope he can stay healthy, as he is a big boost to the bench depth.

Jose Alvarado-Trending up

My man Grand Theft Alvarado just got paid, so things are looking up for him personally. He deserves it, as he is the Pels’ energizer off the bench, a guy who is always a threat for a steal and has picked up his offensive game of late.

Naji Marshall-Trending up

Naji is grinding through his shooting woes, and didn’t play much last night, but I do like the way he’s been playing over the last 3-4 games. He’s a bit of a wildcard offensively, but brings energy and hustle.

Trey Murphy III- Trending up

Murphy III exploded for his biggest game of the season at the right time, as his 21 points against the Lakers were key to the win. He’s getting more confident off the bounce, more aggressive on defense and as a rebounder and just looks more comfortable every game.

Devonte’ Graham-Trending down

Devonte’ unleashed the hair and had one big game sandwiched between a bunch of duds. He has scored 2, 30, 6, 2, and 2 points over his last five games, and when he is not scoring, he doesn’t add much. You have to wonder if Jose Alvrado’s contract might have been the writing on the wall for Graham, who may not have a future with the Pelicans since they are now carrying three small guards.
