The New Orleans Pelicans’ magic number is down to one as they head to Sacramento to take on the Kings.

The Kings are in full tank mode after being officially eliminated from the play-in, and will be without Richaun Holmes, Domantas Sabonis and De’Aaron Fox.

This is good news for the Pelicans, who can clinch at least the 10th seed with a win tonight over the Kings.

The Pels are coming off a loss to the Clippers but have been playing well, getting contributions from different role players in just about every game.

This is another classic “trap” game for the Pels, who are favored and going against a bad, shorthanded team that has nothing to lose.

New Orleans Pelicans vs. Sacramento Kings: Odds, spread, over/under and best bets

According to WynnBET, the Pelicans are 8.5 point favorites on the road in Sacramento.

The Pels crushed the Kings by 30 the last time they played and that was with Sabonis and Fox, so I like them to comfortably cover this spread.

The money lines are set at -400 for NOLA and +310 for Sacramento, but 8.5 points isn’t much against a team that isn’t really trying to win, so take the Pels to cover and hope for a blowout.

The over/under is 225.5 combined points, which I think is a bit high. The Pelicans should be able to lock the Kings down in this one and only allowed them to score 95 in the last meeting. I’d take the Pels to cover with the under.

CJ McCollum and Brandon Ingram are the two high-end plays in daily fantasy, as Jonas Valanciunas is listed as day-to-day and might sit tonight, especially with Holmes and Sabonis out.

That leaves Jaxson Hayes as your best low-cost play, as he will have a favorable matchup tonight against the Kings’ backups and could see more action if Jonas does sit. Hayes has to stay on his feet tonight, as Kings’ backup Trey Lyles is a pump-fake master and could get him into foul trouble.
