Pelicans odds vs. Suns in Game 5: Momentum with New Orleans
The New Orleans Pelicans tied their series with the Suns at two and now head back to Phoenix with momentum on their side.
But we know that can shift quickly, especially against a Suns team that led the NBA in wins this season and is led by one of the greatest point guards of all times.
The Pelicans were able to shut Chris Paul down with two rookies in game four and will need to slow him again to pull off the upset on the road.
Brandon Ingram has found another level and the Suns have not had an answer for him so far. Game four started to get pretty testy and the Pels will have to stay cool in this one. They still need to be physical and try to impose their will defensively, but they can’t pick up stupid fouls or get unnecessary technicals by getting caught up in the emotion.
The Suns will still be without Devin Booker, but Deandre Ayton and Mikal Bridges are there to step up in his absence, so this won’t be an easy one in what is certain to be a hostile environment.
Can the Pels stun the Suns and take a commanding lead before coming back to New Orleans? The sports books don’t think so, but what’s new?
New Orleans Pelicans @ Phoenix Suns: Odds, spread, over under and best bets
According to WynnBET, the Pelicans are 6.5 point underdogs on the road tonight in Phoenix. This is up four points from the last game, so the books are giving the Suns a sizable home court advantage.
The money lines are set at +210 for NOLA and -260 for Phoenix, which are pretty tempting if you like the Pelicans to win. The winning team has covered every game so far, so chances are the Suns will pull away if they do win, so just take the better odds on the money line if you like the Pels, which I do.
The over/under is 215.5 combined points, similar to the past two games, in which the two teams easily went over. I like them to do it again tonight.
I like New Orleans to pull off the upset on the road tonight in a close game that ends around 112-110.
At this point, Brandon Ingram is really your only safe bet in daily fantasy, though Jonas Valanciunas did go off in game four.
That was Jonas’ first really good game of the series, and CJ McCollum has also struggled with his shooting percentages against tough Suns’ defenders, so they are still risky plays.
The Pels’ role players have been good, but it’s a crapshoot to guess which one might put up stats on a given night. Larry Nance Jr. might be your best low-cost play, as he put up a solid all-around stat line in the last game.
How to watch Pelicans @ Suns
The game in Phoenix does not tip off until 9:00 PM CT, so once again Pelicans’ fans get treated to a very late start. But you can sleep in the offseason! You can watch on Bally Sports New Orleans or TNT or listen on ESPN 100.3 FM.
