Zion Williamson: Winning now and later

Zion just watched his team go to the playoffs, and even though they had a losing record overall, the is a team that is poised to be a contender right away once Zion returns.

Is there anyone who thinks a fully healthy Zion wouldn’t have helped the Pelicans against the Suns? Zion had to be itching to get back out there, especially when the Pels did it with a roster full of guys that are his age.

Zion and the young guys have already been working out all offseason and seem to have a good rapport and strong chemistry as a group. Add in quality veterans like CJ McCollum, who has been sticking up for Zion in the media and will reportedly be working out with him this summer, you have a solid team coming back and none of the drama from last offseason when so much was uncertain.

The Pelicans have a coach that the players like and listen to, so this roster is tailor-made for Zion Williamson to be happy.

They also have the 8th pick in the 2022 NBA Draft to add, so the Pels are set up as well as just about any team in the NBA to win now and well into the future. The same cannot be said of the LA Lakers, New York Knicks or any of the other big-market teams that are usually connected to Zion in baseless rumors.
