Brandon Ingram’s shots out of isolation

Last season, Brandon Ingram took 14 percent of his shots out of isolation plays, which is just below guys like LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo, but well below league leader James Harden, who takes 35 percent of his shots out of isolation.

Ingram hit just 31.9 percent of those shots last season, a terrible number, as the best guys (players like Kyrie Irving) were over 50 percent.

It won’t be hard for coach Green to sell ball movement using these numbers, as Ingram was a much more effective scorer when he wasn’t working out of isolation plays.

His shots out of isolation were two percent lower when he played with Zion and his shooting percentage from isolation plays was 39.7 percent with Zion, a noticeable difference.

Coach Green’s offensive style should lead to even fewer of these types of shots for Brandon Ingram next season, and with Zion making it more difficult for teams to double, those shots should be easier ones for Ingram, which will hopefully lead to a higher percentage of them going in.

We’ll see fewer Ingram iso’s and more shots coming out of the flow of the offense.
