Pelicans game tonight: Pelicans vs Suns odds, Zion injury update, predictions, TV channel for Oct. 28
The New Orleans Pelicans will hit the road for their first matchup with the Phoenix Suns since the two faced off in a competitive six-game series in the playoffs last season.
This game kicks off a brutal stretch of the schedule that will see the Pels play six of their next seven games on the road, mostly against good teams.
Both teams have started 3-1 with New Orleans coming off an impressive shorthanded win over Dallas and the Suns fresh off a dismantling of the Golden State Warriors.
The rematch from last year’s playoffs has been somewhat dampened by the fact that the Pels could be missing several key players.
Here is all of the information you’ll need.
New Orleans Pelicans vs Phoenix Suns: Odds and Spread, Over/Under
This is going to be a tough game to bet, as we won’t know who is actually playing until game time, but as of right now, Fanduel has New Orleans as 6.5 underdogs and that number could go up.
The money lines are set at +200 for New Orleans and -245 for Phoenix and the over/under is a combined 224 points.
Regardless of who plays, I like the over, as the Pels have surpassed their points total in every game so far this year, and this one should be high scoring even if New Orleans is shorthanded. The Suns put up 134 points in their last game, so these are two teams that can score.
Pelicans injury report: Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram injury update
Brandon Ingram and Kira Lewis Jr. are ruled out for the game against Phoenix, but beyond that it starts getting murky.
Zion Williamson, Herb Jones, CJ McCollum, Dyson Daniels and Jose Alvarado are all listed a day-to-day, with Zion, Herb and Jose having “questionable” status.
Only Ish Wainright is listed as doubtful for the Suns, so this could be a huge mismatch if New Orleans is missing seven players, including most of their starting five.
New Orleans Pelicans vs Phoenix Suns: Prediction
The Pels showed off their impressive roster depth in the last game, but winning one on the road against the Suns with even more players out is a pretty tall task, even for a team that is playing as well as New Orleans.
I think Wille Green’s team will play hard no matter who is in there, but if all of these guys are out, it probably won’t matter. This could change if Zion and CJ both play, but for now this looks like a road loss for New Orleans.
New Orleans 112, Phoenix 120
