New Orleans Pelicans: Possible trade targets on tanking teams
New Orleans Pelicans: Trade targets on the tanking teams
Detroit Pistons (3-11)
- Bojan Bogdanovic
- Alec Burks
- Nerlens Noel
The Detroit Pistons were hoping to turn a corner in their rebuild this season (I cover them too) but so far that hasn’t happened.
They are another team that could look to move veterans if they continue to lose and they do have some interesting names.
Bogdanovic would obviously be the best get for the New Orleans Pelicans and was a guy they were rumored to be after in the offseason, but he just signed an extension to stay with the Pistons, so he can’t be traded again until the middle of December. That doesn’t mean he won’t be traded, especially if the Pistons keep losing badly and Bojan keeps knocking down shots at a high rate, which he has so far this season.
Detroit could decide to move him while the value is high, so he’ll be a name to watch, though he’d be the most expensive in terms of trade cost and salary.
Alec Burks is just back from injury but is a proven 40 percent 3-point shooter who is more versatile than Devonte’ Graham. His contract is not guaranteed past this season, so he’d be a cheaper option with no long-term commitment.
Nerlens Noel hasn’t played much for the Pistons this season, but is a proven veteran shot blocker whose contract only has a team option after this season. Detroit is a team that could commit to tanking, and if they do, at least two of these players will be on the market and could help bolster the Pelicans’ depth.
