The Pelicans travel to the Motor City on Friday in hopes of getting back in the win column after losing to the Celtics on Wednesday.

New Orleans enters as road favorites against one of the worst teams in the NBA this season. The Pelicans have held the line without Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram, still 25-17 on the year and third in the Western Conference. They now face an outmatched Pistons team that is 12-33 on the year.

Pelicans vs. Pistons prediction and pick

The Pelicans offense hasn’t been hitting on elite cylinders with Zion on the shelf, but the team has been fine on that end with C.J. McCollum keeping the unit on track. They’re 13th in points per 100 possessions over the last two weeks, per Cleaning The Glass, but the defense has fallen off, 22nd in points allowed per 100 possessions.

They will be facing a Pistons team that is helpless on both sides of the floor this season, 24th in points per 100 possessions and 29th on defense. Both teams play fast this season, 12th and 13th in pace, so there should be plenty of shots for both teams.

Detroit can’t stop anybody, but I’m not rushing to lay a few buckets on a road favorite that is lacking their two best playmakers. Instead, I’ll go with the over. Detroit has allowed 119 or more points in six of its last seven games, including 147 to the Sixers on Tuesday.

Let’s bank on points with both defenses below league average and the pace expected to be fast.
