New Orleans Pelicans (33-37) vs. Houston Rockets (18-52) – Sunday, March 19th @ 7 PM Eastern Standard Time

For all the reasons that the Pelicans need to beat the Spurs, they also need to beat the Houston Rockets tonight.

But even more than that is the memory that is firmly ingrained in the minds of all Pelicans’ fans from Friday; the memory of rookie Jabari Smith Jr. draining a game-winning three-pointer to put the exclamation mark on the Pelicans’ epic fourth-quarter collapse.

After leading by as many as 16 in the second half and as much as 15 in the fourth quarter, the Pelicans fell to the lowly Rockets (and even the term “lowly” is putting it lightly).

That loss is going to sting for a long time, even if the team has beaten Houston by double digits in both of their other meetings this year.

But you know what could lessen the pain inflicted by that wound? A redemptive victory in Houston tonight.
