Trey Murphy III

We’ve talked all season about how much of an impact shooting (particularly three-point shooting) can have on a single game. Typically, you can’t win/lose an entire seven-game series because of shooting (that’s one of the reasons we format the playoffs that way).

But the play-in tournament isn’t a seven-game series. It’s a one-game, winner-take-all ordeal. So, if you have a player who can get scorching hot from downtown, that might just be enough to carry you to victory.

Trey Murphy III is already one of the best shooters in basketball, and we’ve already seen him swing games with his marksmanship. Most recently, we were able to stampede the Los Angeles Clippers on March 25th in large part because of the 10/12 three-point shooting performance put together by Murphy.

Shooting doesn’t decide how every game is won, but if it is going to decide how this game turns out, Murphy better be feeling his jumper.
