Jaxson Hayes

The writing has been on the wall for Jaxson Hayes’ departure for some time now.

Hayes, a lottery pick in the 2019 draft, has failed to carve out a consistent role in New Orleans since his arrival. This has been increasingly evident in the Willie Green era.

Despite being healthy, Hayes has only appeared in 47 games this season. In his appearances, he is averaging nearly six points and three rebounds in 13 minutes.

Moving on seems beneficial for both parties.

For Jaxson Hayes, he will likely receive more money elsewhere, along with a consistent opportunity to showcase his talents. For New Orleans, this opens a roster spot and a chance to add a key role player alongside Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram.

While the future in New Orleans once seemed bright for the high-flying big man, it’s clear that his time with the Pelicans organization seems to be over.
