It will be very interesting to see what the Pelicans do with Josh Richardson this off-season.

At the 2023 trade deadline, New Orleans acquired Richardson from San Antonio for Devonte Graham and four second-round picks. In his time in the Big Easy, Richardson has been a solid contributor to the team averaging nearly ten points, three rebounds, and three assists.

Despite his effective play, there is a scenario where he is unable to reach a deal with the Pelicans.

Richardson will be an unrestricted free agent this summer. He will likely look for a deal similar to the twelve-million-dollar deal he is on right now. While New Orleans is expected to offer a contract, there will likely be other teams in the mix.

A championship contender in a big market such as Miami, Philadelphia, or Los Angeles could offer a similar deal with a significant role. Richardson may seek this type of role in that type of venue, which, in turn, means an exit from New Orleans.

While there has been no word on Josh Richardson’s future with the Pelicans, it is certainly something to monitor this offseason.
