Jonas Valanciunas

Like Murphy, Jonas Valanciunas may find himself in trade talks this summer. The Pelicans may look to package the veteran big man for another center who is a better fit alongside star Zion Williamson.

While there may be rumors this offseason, I also don’t see this happening for two reasons.

First, this potential deal would be expensive for New Orleans. The Pelicans would likely need to shell out Valanciunas and multiple picks to interest another team.

Second, Jonas Valanciunas is still a very important piece for this team. Despite his recent struggles, Valanciunas has had a solid two years with the Pelicans and has been a strong contributor for the team’s success.

I find it unlikely that New Orleans forces a deal here, and I expect to see Jonas Valanciunas with the team next season.
