Karl-Anthony Towns

In what could represent the most realistic of trade targets, the Pelicans should be open to exploring a Williamson for Karl-Anthony Towns (and pieces) trade. It was reported that Towns was shopped by the Minnesota Timberwolves before the NBA Draft. Nothing materialized then, and there’s no guarantee that the Timberwolves are still shopping him now or open to trading him. However, Williamson is a premier enough asset that could get the attention of the Timberwolves.

Taking on Towns is not the guarantee that Siakam or Embiid would be from a production standpoint. As far as the Pelicans are considered, Towns is almost as much of a gamble as keeping Williamson on the roster would be.

Towns is one of the most offensively talented players in the league. There are few bigs that can do what he can on the offensive end of the floor. But he’s been knocked for his struggles on the defensive end of the floor and for not being as dominant as a player as he should be with his level of raw talent.

Still, a trio of McCollum, Ingram, and KAT would be quite interesting in the West. It could be too talented of an idea to pass up, even if it comes at the expense of Williamson.
