5 Zion Williamson trade packages that the Pelicans cannot refuse

4. Pelicans get massive haul from OKC for Zion
No team is better positioned to make a massive splash than the Oklahoma City Thunder, who have 15 first-round draft picks and 35 total selections over the next seven years. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is a superstar, and the franchise is hoping to take a significant step next season. Could they trade for a second star to jolt their timeline?
Along with an insane amount of draft capital, the Thunder’s roster is loaded with young talent. They can jump to the front of the line in any star trade, and Oklahoma City would still have plenty to deal after offering his gigantic package for Zion.
Josh Giddey gives the Pelicans a 6’8 point guard that could be on his way to star status. He averaged 16.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game last season as a 20-year-old. Giddey brings versatility to New Orleans and gives them the ideal backcourt partner for CJ McCollum.
Dort and Williams are two more rotation pieces, and the Thunder offer three first-round draft picks because they have a significant surplus.
This a massive deal for the New Orleans Pelicans that gives them pieces for the present and future. This is exactly what the franchise needs if it is going to part with Zion Williamson before he reaches his prime.
