A few weeks ago, before the NBA offseason frenzy officially began, it was reported that the Pelicans were looking into the possibility of trading Kira Lewis Jr. Even as the free agency rush has died down around the league, it’s something to keep an eye on as we inch closer and closer to the start of training camp.

Getting to the theory of the Pelicans trading Lewis is not that difficult. With CJ McCollum, Dyson Daniels, Jose Alvarado, Jordan Hawkins, and even Brandon Ingram, there aren’t many available minutes for Lewis as he continues to attempt to find his footing in the NBA.

He’s struggled to find a consistent role for the Pelicans through the first three seasons of his career. And as he enters the final year of his contract before he can test restricted free agency, it may be in the best interest of both the Pelicans and Lewis to find a trade that makes sense.
