It’s almost here. The moment we have all been waiting for. The return of New Orleans Pelicans basketball. But exactly how much longer do we have left to wait?
When is the next time the New Orleans Pelicans play?
The first time we will get a look at the Pelicans during the 2023-24 season will be during their preseason opener, which will be against the Orlando Magic on October 10th at 8 PM Eastern Standard Time.
If he plays, that will be the first time we will see Zion Williamson playing basketball in 281 days. As you’ll recall, he missed the last 45 games of the season with a strained hamstring injury he endured during a January 2nd clash against the Philadelphia 76ers.
When is the next time the New Orleans Pelicans play meaningful basketball?
If you’re anything like me, it is probably pretty tough to get you excited about preseason play. And believe me, I don’t blame you in the slightest if that’s how you feel. There are just too many variables that are present/missing from preseason play that aren’t/are the case with the regular season.
Anyway, if preseason doesn’t do it for you, never fear, because the start of the regular season is almost here. The official start of the season is Tuesday, October 24th. But for the Pelicans, their first regular season game is the following day, on Wednesday, October 25th. On that day, they will be the guests of the Memphis Grizzlies. Their first home game will be three days later (Saturday, October 28th) when they host the New York Knicks.
When does the In-Season Tournament start for the New Orleans Pelicans?
Everyone is buzzing about the In-Season Tournament. And rightfully so, this is the first time in league history that the NBA will be hosting this event. For the Pelicans, their first tournament game will take place on November 10th against the Houston Rockets. That will be an away game. Their first home in-season tournament game will be four days later (November 14th) against the Dallas Mavericks.
