The 2024 NBA preseason officially ends after the slate of games on Friday, October 18, but the New Orleans Pelicans have been preparing for tip-off well in advance. Their preseason ended three days early and included an extra game off due to Hurricane Milton canceling one of their matchups against the Orlando Magic.

The 2024-25 NBA season will begin on Tuesday, October 22, but the Pelicans will play their opener the day after, hosting the new-look Chicago Bulls at the Smoothie King Center to tip off their campaign. It's been a hectic offseason for New Orleans, one that started with a major trade that brought All-Star guard Dejounte Murray to town.

There were many points of contention surrounding the team and the roster. Training camp and the preseason were able to address some of those concerns, but the Pellies will head into the regular season with a lot of questions unanswered.

The Pelicans finalize their regular season roster and release a brand-new way to watch the team

Before they officially began their regular season, the Pelicans had to make some cuts to finalize their roster after making numerous signings for training camp and the preseason. To trim down to their final team, New Orleans had to waive four players: Keion Brooks Jr., Trhae Mitchell, Josh Oduro, and veteran guard, Elfrid Payton. Each of those players was on an "exhibit" contract, so the chances of them making the ultimate cut were always slim.

Following those moves, the Pelicans are left with 14 standard deals and three two-way players: Jamal Cain, Malcolm Hill, and Trey Jemison. According to Spotrac, Izaiah Brockington is still on the team's payroll which might mean that he could be given New Orleans's 15th and final roster spot.

In other news, fans who have been waiting for a convenient and easy way to watch the Pelicans on the go should be rejoicing, as the team recently announced Pelicans+, their official streaming service in partnership with Kiswe. For $14.99 per month or $99.99 for the entire season, residents under the local broadcast scope can stream Pelicans games on any device.

Subscribers can access games with either the new Pelicans+ app or they can use their log-in to watch games on NBA.com or the NBA app. Pelicans+ along with the team's new local broadcast partner, Gulf Coast Sports & Entertainment Network, give fans easier avenues to enjoy their team than they ever had before. These new additions align perfectly with the NBA's goal of making the league more accessible to reach a wider audience and build local support.
