3. Inexperienced coaching

This is not an anti-Willie Green sentiment. I think Green is a solid head coach and carries the potential to lead the Pelicans to the promised land. However, he has never done it as the leading man.

Green has two championship rings as an assistant for the Golden State Warriors, but this is his first chance to lead a team on a deep playoff run. Going back to the first point in this article, how much of the Pelicans late-game struggles can be pinned on Green?

His end-of-game rotations have come into question and his deployment of shooters Matt Ryan and Jordan Hawkins has drawn the ire of Pelicans fans. There are moments when the offense needs spacing and Green consistently leaves two of the team's better three-point marksmen on the bench.

Is Willie Green a championship-level coach? Time will tell. Most recently, Steve Kerr won an NBA title as a head coach in his second year on the job (the same amout of time Green has been in the Big Easy), but traditionally it takes coaches a few bites at the apple before they take out the championship chunk.

New Orleans has all of the talent in the world to make a deep playoff run, but questions abound. Answers need to be found quickly before its too late.
