The Pelicans fell to a record of 0-2 after losing to the Orlando Magic 91-86 Sunday in Las Vegas. After a lackluster performance in their first outing against Minnesota, shooting just 30 percent from the field and 25 percent from three, the team eclipsed over 50 percent shooting and 35 percent from three. While the Pelicans lost the game, it was an encouraging outing for promising Pelicans players Jordan Hawkins and Yves Missi.

Hawkins reached 24 points on an inefficient 6-of-18 shooting, but 10-of-11 from the free throw line. Pelicans' rookie center Yves Missi had an improved offensive outing from his first game, shooting 4-of-7, but 1-of-4 from the free throw line. The rookie added one steal and two blocks, making several highlight clips and sequences on both ends of the floor.

One that's clear from Missi's performance against Orlando: His ability to run the floor, defend multiple positions, and use his athleticism to his advantage. Missi's youth and quickness will become pivotal pieces to the Pelicans chances of winning this season. The areas for concern on their roster include rim protection and interior presence, both of which Missi appears capable of improving for New Orleans.

With Pelicans Head Coach Willie Green on standby in the commentary booth, he showed excitement for Missi's upcoming rookie season, pleased with the offseason addition. Missi's impact goes beyond the box score, doing the little things on both ends of the floor. With his addition to the roster, the Pelicans feel confident about their team next year, with growing confidence in their frontcourt.

New Orleans is back in action Tuesday versus San Antonio at 9:30 p.m. on NBATV for their third Summer League game. Following the conclusion of that game, New Orleans' next two games will be Thursday against Memphis at 5:00 p.m. on NBATV and a 'to be determined' game on either July 20 or July 21.
