Pelicans vs. Mavericks key players to watch
New Orleans Pelicans
Brandon Ingram: If he plays, the Pelicans need Ingram to be much better on Saturday after he was limited to just nine points on Friday in Denver. This season, Ingram is averaging 21.7 points per game, but he’s putting up just 13.3 points per game over his last six matchups.
Dallas Mavericks
Kyrie Irving: Irving was terrific on Thursday against the New York Knicks, leading Dallas to its second win this season with Doncic sidelined. The star guard should be in for another major workload tonight. Irving is averaging 27.6 points, 5.9 assists and 5.0 rebounds in seven games for the Mavericks without Luka Doncic in his career.
Pelicans vs. Mavericks prediction and pick
I’m going to take a shot on the Pelicans in this game, even though Dallas is favored.
New Orleans is one of the best teams in the NBA as a road underdog this season, going 6-3-1 against the spread.
If the team still plays at least two of Ingram, CJ McCollum and Zion Williamson, then I think the Pels have a legit chance to steal this game on the road.
Dallas needed massive games from Tim Hardaway Jr., Irving and Josh Green to upset the New York Knicks on Thursday. The team has still struggled without Doncic the last two seasons, going 7-14 without him since last season.
I’ll take a shot on the Pelicans at least covering the spread tonight.
