Three risers and one standout faller from the Pelicans Summer League

The Summer League can often create a pecking order for both the incoming rookie class and regular season rotations. With that being said, whose stock is up and whose stock is down following the conclusion of the annual summer event.

Loser: Jordan Hawkins

Jordan Hawkins filled up the stat sheet with points in the Summer League. Despite two games with 20 points or more, Hawkins failed to lead the team in scoring (13.0 points per game). Hawkins finished the Summer League with a combined 10 points over the final two contests, but shot a pedestrian 28 percent from, including 23 percent from three. While there's been excitement regarding Hawkins' future, the increase in workload hurt his production. It may hurt his playing time, too.

Hawkins spoke on his Summer League, mentioning his Summer League as a chance to become a more complete player, focusing on facilitating and defense rather than shooting. Even though Hawkins set his mind towards being a complete player, he had many difficulties as the lead ballhandler. “Trying to initiate the offense. Trying to be more assertive on the defensive end. I'm going to shoot the ball. I don't care if I miss it or make it. That's never going to deter my confidence."
