Three risers and one standout faller from the Pelicans Summer League
Riser: Yves Missi
Missi made his mark in the Summer League in a massive way. While the first-round pick struggled offensively, shooting just 46 percent and 67 percent from the free throw line, Missi was tied for third on the team in assists per game (2.0), tied for first in blocks per game (1.8), and second in rebounds per game (4.8). Missi's defensive presence was one of the lone positives of the Summer League, but it will make him an instant impact player for the Pelicans.
The concerns for Missi after the Summer League remain around his offensive game, but also his tendency to pick up fouls (2.8 per game in just 22 minutes per game). Thankfully for New Orleans, the need lies in defense and rim protection rather than Missi's offensive skillset. So don't let Missi's stats fool you, he had a very good Summer League.
New Orleans came out of this year's Summer League healthy and confident about their future. The Pelicans will spend the remainder of the offseason filling their roster and finalizing its rotation, but the Summer League experience provided the organization with potential answers and key findings. The youngsters gained key experience as they prepare for next season, when New Orleans looks to ascend toward the top of the Western Conference standings.
