With the 2014-2015 NBA season over it is time to look back and everything and anything the New Orleans Pelicans did this season and talk about and discuss it. Over the past few weeks we have been rolling out season reviews of just about every player that played in any meaningful moments.

So far all we have had here at Pelican Debrief is a general overview of each player’s season. With that in mind we wanted to dig deeper into each player. Today we take a look at Tyreke Evans, a player who was supposed to be a bench player and turned into one of the most important pieces on the roster this season.

Despite the drastic change in the role he was asked to play, Evans thrived. As the primary point guard after Jrue Holiday again was felled with a stress reaction in his leg, Evans averaged 16.6 points, 6.6 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game this season while posting a 47.7 effective field goal percentage and made countless big shots for the Pelicans. As is typical with Evans there were moments of head scratching confusion but overall he was a guy that Pelicans fans could trust to step up and play hard and well most nights. Evans battled through ankle and knee injuries this season including a bone bruise on his left knee during the Pelicans playoff series with the Golden State Warriors. When all was said and done no Pelican played in as many games or played as many minutes as Evans this season so there is plenty to discuss about him.

So what did the staff think about Evans season? We touch on clutch play, transition decision-making, free throw rate and what role to utilize Evans in going forward. As always feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments below.
