Was firing Monty a good or bad idea?

Rick: I’m not entirely sure. The timing was the most confusing thing out of the situation. This decision comes after Monty Williams was able to get an injury riddled team into the playoffs in the gauntlet Western Conference and nearly win a playoff game against the best team in the NBA during the regular season. Just strange. The only big thing left to say is a plan has to be in place for the Pelicans to make this move. The rest of us may not know, but it’s almost a certainty the Pelicans already know who the replacement is if they’re already set on letting Williams go.

Charles:  It took me awhile to take this in and ultimately I think it was a necessary movie but they handled it horribly. It can’t really be judged good or bad however until we find out who the replacement is.

Matt: While it stinks for Monty, his family and all the assistant coaches on the staff, I ultimately think this is a good move. I don’t think that Monty is a good enough coach to win a title with and the Pelicans clearly did not either. Not getting tied into keeping him and extra year just because he made the playoffs is the type of thing good organizations do, even if the way the firing looks now is a bit messy.
