The Blitzkrieg

Jrue/Buddy/Pondexter/Hill/Davis

Penned from the German word for crippling one’s opponent with a swift attack, this is the sexiest lineup and the one Pelicans fans will be most anxious to see.  It puts four of the New Orleans Pelicans’ best shooters (sans Galloway) on the floor and allows Gentry to reminisce about those days in the desert of Arizona.  With Buddy and Quincy Pondexter‘s penchant for floor spacing and Hill’s unrelenting movement away from the ball, Jrue and Davis can instigate some pick-and-roll magic that will leave defenses crying in pain and regret.

With Davis starting at the top of the key at each possession, Jrue will send Buddy and Q-Pon to the corners.  Davis will give the ball to one of Jrue or Hill who will cross each other at the top and observe from there whether their defenders fight through the screens or space the floor. This allows for the open looks from 15-18 feet.  Meanwhile, Q-Pon and Buddy will take turns standing at the three point line, crashing towards the basket, catching the quick pass and either finishing or hot-plating it back to Davis, who will gallop from the free throw line for the highlight finish.

It will be constant ball and player movement, which defenders will have to honor the outside shooting of at least four of the players on the floor.
