The New Orleans Pelicans game against the Indiana Pacers will be rescheduled by the NBA due to a leak in the roof of the Smoothie King Center.
The New Orleans Pelicans got an extra night off last night. There was a leak in the roof of the Smoothie King Center causing a two-hour delay. The game will eventually be made up at a later date. The Pelicans will begin a three-game road trip starting tomorrow in Philadelphia, Saturday in Brooklyn and Monday in Detroit.
Calling the game off is a smart move, you can’t send the players out there and risk injury. Also, this move might have overshadowed the news of DeAndre Liggins becoming a starter in place of Rajon Rondo.
Rondo coming off the bench isn’t a bad thing, according to head coach Alvin Gentry it has nothing to do with his play. Rondo is averaging 7.2 points and 7.2 assists. He has a PER of 14.2 and his win share on the season is 1.7.
Bringing Liggins to the starting unit is specifically to help the second unit. Having Rondo take command of the second unit as the floor general would help raise the offensive and defensive efficiency for that unit. As a result, you’ll have a veteran presance running the floor when Anthony Davis goes to the bench.
The only question mark is Rondo. We all know he can be somewhat of a high-maintenance guy. There is nothing wrong with that. He’s an NBA Champion, he’s paid his dues and has been somewhat lost since leaving Boston. Despite that, I think he’s happy with the team and his situation with the New Orleans Pelicans.
The season stats indicate the New Orleans Pelicans need help
When you look at the New Orleans Pelicans season statistics one stat jumps off the page. They are allowing opponents to score 111.1 points a game, ranking them 29th in the NBA. Rebounding the ball is another issue for the Pelicans. They rank 27th in offensive rebounds at 8.3 per game. Liggins is a defensive player whos capable of helping push this team into a better defensive category come playoff time.

The NBA trade deadline is coming to an end this afternoon at 2 pm. The Pelicans have already made a move bringing in Nikola Mirotic and could possibly bring in some other talent as well. Our friends at Lake Show Life have linked the Pelicans to Lakers players Julius Randle and Jordan Clarkson, however, no deal has been made yet.
The New Orleans Pelicans are being linked with Atlanta guard Kent Bazemore. According to the sportingnews.com, the Pelicans haven’t reached a deal with the Hawks because the Hawks do not want to take on the contract of Solomon Hill at $26 million over the next two years.
