The New Orleans Pelicans are sitting in that final playoff spot with 27 games remaining this season. As we draw near to the playoffs, each game will be more crucial.

The New Orleans Pelicans season could very well result in a complete loss. They are on the verge of being knocked out of the playoffs. One of their superstars in DeMarcus Cousins feature is in jeopardy. Furthermore, the current lineup has one of the weakest second units in the NBA.

There are some rumblings about head coach Alvin Gentry and his ability to lead this team through dark times. All this eventually will bleed into the upcoming free agency of Anthony Davis. As a fan, it’s easy to see the lights growing dim in New Orleans.

Still, there is a glimmer of hope, a small chance for a turnaround. The NBA being the great league that it is, features teams changing their stars on a yearly basis. Cleveland is celebrating its new team and new chance to make the NBA Finals once again.

I would suggest that Pelicans fans keep an eye on the buyout market and the offseason. I do expect the Pelicans to possibly make the first round of the playoffs. Hopefully, they’ll put up a good fight and not get swept by Houston or Golden State.

The New Orleans Pelicans are not a franchise dead in the water, by any means. They still have the ability to re-sign Cousins and possibly one good role player. Furthermore, they’ll like retain Nikola Mirotic and maybe even Rajon Rondo.

Recently, some of the writers of Pelicandebrief.com answered some roundtable discussion questions. These questions are some of the most important questions facing the New Orleans Pelicans today.
