Golden State Warriors

In regards to the Anthony Davis trade rumors, the biggest storyline of late has been Golden States interest in acquiring the superstar’s services. Coming off their third NBA title in four years, the Warriors are looking to improve.

Currently, the franchise rosters two of the five best players in the league today (Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry). Amongst their starting-five, four are perennial All-Stars. You’d think a team of this caliber would be content with what they have. But, alas, Golden State seems hungry for more.

The thought of Davis joining the likes of Durant and Curry is spine-chilling. Arguably, they are the most talented roster in NBA history. With the addition of AD, it would be no question. However, even so, this package is not an easy one to offer if you’re Golden State, for you’re giving up two integral pieces of your championship units. For New Orleans, the idea of pulling the trigger on a package like this is equally as hard.

Yes, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green are fantastic. Both have multiple All-Star appearances under their belts and have the potential to be the best player on a majority of other teams. The problem with this, however, is the fact that none of them match-up to the talent that is Anthony Davis.

This is no knock at Thompson or Green, this is just a testimony to how good AD is. He guided this years DeMarcus Cousins-less team to the second round of the playoffs, and now sees himself in contention to take home both the NBA Most Valuable Player and Defensive Player of the Year awards. Imagine what the Pelicans can accomplish if they have a healthy Boogie or, perhaps, someone even better running alongside Davis?

While the trade would increase NOLA’s talent at multiple positions, it still does not justify trading away Anthony Davis. Keeping him on board and pursuing another star to join him seems to be the better option for New Orleans.

Verdict:  Should not be in consideration (unless Davis becomes a flight risk)
