#2 Boston Celtics

In what could be a shock here to some, the Boston Celtics actually clock in at #2 on this list of most likely teams to trade for AD. While they still will surely end up being one of the most rumored teams connected to Davis as we go forward, the team has a level of uncertainty to it after their disappointing 4-1 playoff series loss in round 2 at the hands of the Milwaukee Bucks.

A lot of what direction the Celtics will go this summer depends on what Kyrie Irving ultimately decides to do with his possible impending free agency. Does he return to the Celtics for another shot at a deep playoff run, or is the situation already too toxic, prompting him to take his talents elsewhere?

If he leaves, the Celtics might be less inclined to make a deal for Davis. However, even without Kyrie, a team featuring AD, Gordon Hayward, Jaylen Brown, Al Horford, and Marcus Smart is still not a combination to take lightly, and they could be major players in the east regardless of what Irving ends up doing.

If Boston loses Kyrie, they’ll want to reload while hanging onto as many key players as possible. For the Pelicans, that’s okay. New Orleans would still ask for the coveted contract of Jayson Tatum, alongside up to FOUR first round draft picks in 2019 from the Celtics, depending on how the lottery shakes out. With some luck, the Pels could secure up to 3 total lotto picks in this draft, which sounds pretty nice when packaged along with Tatum.
