Cody Martin: Forward, Nevada, Senior

The Wolf Pack senior held a stat line of 12/4/4 on 50.5% from the field and 35.8% beyond the arc. Martin shows a smart ability to score, despite being a late-bloomer with his offensive game. His ability to defend is very well noted. He was selected to the All-Mountain West Defensive team and boasted 1.4 steals and 0.7 blocks per game.

He does have a solid ability to score at all three levels, is a good driver to the basket, and can get a bucket in any way that he needs to. He has a bit of a turnover problem with 1.9 during his final season and will need to work on that. The continued development of his jump shot will be crucial in the NBA. He is going to be a very strong contributor as he plays with a lot of toughness that gives a Patrick Beverley and Draymond Green sort of vibe to his game.

He is more of a distributor than a scorer, which will be valuable in the right role at the next level. His court vision is above average and has an impressive feel for the game. I wouldn’t expect him to go 39th to the New Orleans Pelicans, but it would be a pick we couldn’t be too upset about if the team did reach a bit for him at this draft position.
