2019 NBA Draft: Mock Draft 3.0 – Who do Pelicans take with Lakers’ pick?
26. Cleveland Cavaliers (Via Rockets) – Grant Williams, Tennessee, PF
Tennessee’s Grant Williams is the guy we might be talking about in 5 years that was the steal of the 2019 NBA Draft. He’s already an extremely polished prospect coming into the NBA, and he’s got the skills to come aboard with Cleveland and immediately make an impact. These are rare traits from a player going near the end of Round One.
For whatever reason, be it the fact that he’s already a bit “older” as a college junior, or something else entirely, Williams seems to be flying under the radar on many draft boards. He’ll look to prove everyone wrong.
27. Brooklyn Nets (Via Nuggets) – Dylan Windler, Belmont, SF
The Nets need more shooters to pair with their exciting guards and their budding big man in Jarrett Allen. Whether or not it’s Kyrie Irving or D’Angelo Russell at the point when next season starts for Brooklyn, this need will remain the same. Dylan Windler from Belmont is the type of player that could develop into a very useful scoring threat on the wing in a year or two, and he could learn a lot playing behind Joe Harris.
28. Golden State Warriors – Chuma Okeke, Auburn, PF
Okeke from Auburn suffered a nasty ACL tear in the NCAA Tournament that unfortunately ended his collegiate career on a sour note. Pre-injury, this was a guy that would have gone much, much higher in this draft. The Golden State Warriors are a team that is totally fine to take a flier on an injured prospect. He and Kevin Durant can rehab together (if KD sticks around Oakland).
29. San Antonio Spurs – Isaiah Roby, Nebraska, SF/PF
Here’s another dude that seems to fit the Spurs very nicely and also fills a position where they’re a bit thinner rotationally. Isaiah Roby from Nebraska is a hard worker with the frame and skills to potentially be a fine piece for San Antonio after a couple years of development. He might be a bit of a reach in Round One, but he makes sense for the Spurs’ roster.
30. Milwaukee Bucks – Jontay Porter, Missouri, C
When it’s all said and done, we all might look back and realize that Jontay Porter was actually the best center prospect in this entire draft. The Bucks are in the position to gamble, and they’re capable of giving Porter the time he needs to get himself healthy.
Porter has great court vision and playmaking ability, which is even more impressive given the fact that he’s a center. He can also be a very good stretch-5 at the next level.
