Karl-Anthony Towns, who the New Orleans Pelicans should target

Karl-Anthony Towns, Minnesota Timberwolves

Injured for most of this season, but playing at a superstar level when he’s been healthy, Karl-Anthony Towns is one of the more intriguing bigs in the NBA.

Further, the idea of pairing the 6’11”, 248 pound center with big-time shooting range next to Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram would create a huge fear factor around the NBA.

Appearing in 35 games this season for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Towns averaged 26.5 points, 10.8 rebounds, and shot 41.2% from three-point range on 7.9 attempts per game.

This is probably not impossible, even if it takes a few years for the market to develop.

While the NBA fan community was mostly aware of the fact that Karl-Anthony Towns greatly desired to play with D’Angelo Russell, something the organization created by trading Andrew Wiggins, continued playoff misses would continue to create frustrations in the Minnesota locker room.

There were tremors that Towns was felt unhappy with the situation in Minnesota prior to their midseason trades, so much so that the New York Knicks and Golden State Warriors were keeping tabs on his potential demanding of a trade.

The New Orleans Pelicans have a ton of assets that could eventually be used in a big trade for someone like Towns and I’d imagine they’ll be keeping the same kinds of tabs as the Warriors and Knicks.
