What Does Zion Williamson have to do to be the Best Pelican Ever?

Vince Lombardi, one of the NFL’s all time winningest coaches said these words and they still ring true today.

Part of the reason we still remember Michael Jordan and are celebrating “The Last Dance” is because Jordan was one of the league’s all-time winners.

HIs personal statistics were impressive, but if Jordan had never won a title, he’d be in Charles Barkley territory rather than GOAT territory.

We all know Zion Williamson is going to put up numbers if he is on the floor, but personal statistics don’t get you the best of franchise crown, winning does.

The New Orleans Pelicans don’t have much of a history of victory, winning only two playoff series in their history and never advancing past the conference semi-finals.

The best way for Zion Williamson to put his stamp on the franchise is to win, it’s that simple.

New Orleans is a football city because the Saints have won, but fans in the Big Easy will come around as soon as the team starts putting up those W’s consistently.

In their 18 years of existence, the New Orleans Pelicans are a lousy 671-771, something that Zion can’t undo overnight.

New Orleans has had some brief success around the Chris Paul and Anthony Davis eras, but were never really able to put it all together.

If Zion Williamson can take this team to the Western Conference Finals or beyond, he will cement himself in team history.

Zion has the talent, smarts and drive to be one of the greatest players in the NBA, but only if he can stay healthy and win consistently.

It’s shocking that a kid with 19 games under his belt is already being mentioned with the all-time greats, but that’s the type of talent Zion Williamson has.

It’s going to be fun to watch him destroy every franchise record as he takes this team to places they’ve never been.
