The New Orleans Pelicans are ready to prove they belong in the playoffs, but some players just want to show they belong on the team.

There will be a lot at stake when the New Orleans Pelicans take the court in Orlando.

The team has a chance to earn a playoff bid, which would be a huge achievement considering they started the season 6-22 and had a 13-game losing streak.

There are also a few players who potentially have a lot to gain or lose by playing well or poorly when the NBA re-starts at Disney.

The New Orleans Pelicans have a number of free agents whose futures are still up in the air with the team, so the Pels will use these final eight games to evaluate what to do in the offseason.

Derrick Favors, E’Twaun Moore, Brandon Ingram, Jahlil Okafor, Frank Jackson and Kenrich Williams are all free agents after this season, and other than Ingram, none are a sure-fire bet to come back to New Orleans.

There are three guys who would have to play very well in Orlando to prove that they fit with the future of this team.

Frank Jackson, Point Guard

Frank Jackson is one of the players for the New Orleans Pelicans whose future with the team may depend on how he plays in Orlando.

If Jackson plays well, steps up on defense and is consistent on offense, the Pelicans may decide to bring him back as the primary backup point guard next season.

The catch is that if Jackson plays too well, say he has a couple of big games on the national stage, some other team may swoop in and offer him a contract that the Pelicans are not willing to match.

If Jackson plays poorly, or not at all, the Pels will likely look to fill his role in free agency or the draft, which is loaded with point guards.

It’s a strange situation for Jackson to be in, as he could play his way off the team one way or the other.
