According to rumors, the New Orleans Pelicans inquired about Bradley Beal, but what would it take to get him? Is he even worth it?

The New Orleans Pelicans have more trade assets than just about any team in the NBA, which is going to bring the rumors.

One rumor that just keeps coming back is that the Pelicans are going to trade for Bradley Beal.

This was stoked recently by Shams Charania on the Load Management Podcast, who said the New Orleans Pelicans looked hard into acquiring Beal at some point this season.

It obviously didn’t happen and there is no indication of how serious the talks actually were, only that the Pelicans were interested.

The New Orleans Pelicans are in an interesting position, as they have a young, ascending team, so some would prefer they just allow them to grow together, to run it back with this core and see where it can take them.

But there is always the “win now” crowd who feels a team should go for it when they have the chance.

Bradley Beal is certainly a guy who can move the needle, as he is one of the top players in the NBA, averaging 30.5 points per game, which is second to only James Harden.

Beal also distributes the ball, grabs a fair number of boards and is not a hack on defense, getting 1.6 steals per game.

Beal would fit on about any team and would make them better, that is not a question. The question is what would it take to get him and would that price tag be worth it?

The New Orleans Pelicans already have some pretty good guards, and while Beal might be a slight upgrade, would it be enough to offset the cost?

Let’s take a look at what it might take to get Bradley Beal and if it would be worth it for the New Orleans Pelicans.
