The New Orleans Pelicans will be playing the next eight games on the road, so we took a look at how they fared away from the Smoothie King Center.

The New Orleans Pelicans will end the regular season on the road. Then again, so will everyone else.

This is good for teams like the Lakers, who dominated on the road, losing only six games out of the 32 they played.

It’s not so good for teams like the 76ers, who were abysmal on the road, going 10-24 while only losing two games at home.

The New Orleans Pelicans fall somewhere in the middle, as they are better on the road as far as wins, but better at home in most statistical categories.

The Pelicans have won 15 road games and only 13 at home, though if you just looked at the stats you’d think they were a better home team.

The eight games in Orlando will be unlike anything the NBA has ever seen, as all teams will play in the same location, there will be no fans and players are coming off an extended hiatus when most of them were unable to touch a basketball in a meaningful way.

Add that to the Pelicans’ youth and it’s anyone’s guess what might happen when this team finally starts playing games. The pressure and environment could get to them and the Pels could falter and show their inexperience.

Another possibility is that the Pels are too young to know what they don’t know, and that confidence, along with their immense talent, will carry them to the playoffs and a first round matchup against the dreaded Lakers.

Past performance isn’t always a predictor, especially in this situation, but we have a pretty good sample size to look at when it comes to how the New Orleans Pelicans perform at home vs. on the road.
