Here are five bold Western Conference predictions, including one for the New Orleans Pelicans, who are hoping to find magic at Disney.

No one really knows what to expect when the New Orleans Pelicans take the floor in game one of the NBA’s Disney re-start.

They were playing well before the league was locked down, but is there another level to their game? Have we really seen the best of the Pelicans?

It’s difficult to predict, but I am going to do it anyway. Here are five bold predictions for NBA Disney. If I am wrong, please ignore them, but if I am right, kindly hail me as a genius.

Here we go.

Prediction #1: The Rockets Bomb

No team has more boom or bust potential than the Houston Rockets.

This has been true all season, when at times they have looked like a legitimate Finals contender and at others have looked like they might drop out of the playoffs.

This is because of a mercurial style in which they shoot the most three-pointers per game in the NBA (44.3) but only hit the 23rd highest percentage as a team, a mediocre 34.8 percent.

Obviously the Rockets are playing a numbers game, as they shoot so many three’s that they don’t have to hit a high percentage for their strategy to work. They score the second most amount of points in the NBA, so over a large sample size, it works.

But in a small sample size, this strategy can bite them.

The Rockets can blow any team off the floor when they are hot, but can miss 27 in a row as they did against the Warriors in Game 7 of the 2018 WCF.

I predict more of the latter at NBA Disney, where the Rockets will have to quickly shake off the rust and start knocking down long-range shots.

The Rockets will win three or fewer games and drop to the seven seed in the West heading into the playoffs.
