The New Orleans Pelicans got blown out from start to finish by the LA Clippers.

It was hard to know what to expect from the New Orleans Pelicans after losing a heartbreaker to the Utah Jazz in game one of the NBA restart.

Tough losses can linger, which is exactly what seemed to happen, as the Pelicans got absolutely destroyed by the Clippers.

Los Angeles started hitting three’s early and never stopped, making 25 overall to set a new team record.

In the last game the Pelicans couldn’t stop anyone in the paint, and they did hold the Clippers to only 20 down low, but it hardly matters when they make 25 three’s.

It was an ugly and disappointing loss. Here are three instant reactions.

The New Orleans Pelicans Were Lifeless

Look, the Clippers are a good team and Paul George played out of his mind, so losing to them is not unexpected, but the Pelicans never really showed up.

An early barrage of 3-pointers seemed to suck the life out of the Pelicans, as they had no answer, for, well, just about anything. The Clippers made it look effortless as they just kept draining them from long-range.

It’s tough when you run into a really good team that is clicking, but the Pelicans just laid down. They looked like observers of the game rather than participants, which was surprising.

It could be the lingering effects of a close loss, fatigue from lack of conditioning or just the Clippers being very good, but the Pelicans looked overmatched and lifeless.

These were the two toughest games on their schedule and it’s not surprising that they started out in an 0-2 hole but it will be a test to see how the Pels bounce back after such a big blowout.
