The New Orleans Pelicans should be worried about Zion Williamson.

Before and After the Bubble

Just before the hiatus, Zion Williamson was playing big minutes for the New Orleans Pelicans as they tried to claw their way to the 8th seed.

He was playing well, but also looked fatigued late in games, was limping around a lot, and looked like he was starting to wear down.

The suspension of play looked like it would be beneficial for Zion, as he was allowed to stay at the practice facility, work on his knee and stay in shape.

When a team picture leaked of a toned, slimmed down Zion Williamson, the Internet nearly exploded.

“Bane” Zion looked like he’d dropped 20 pounds and got shredded while the rest of us were sitting on the sofa watching Netflix.

Then he had to leave the bubble.

Zion Williamson’s family emergency is his own business and I’m glad the rookie was able to be with his family when they needed him.

But were they eating cheeseburger cakes the entire time?

Zion came back from an eight-day break and looked to have found the weight he lost during the hiatus.

He looked like a fighter who stopped training, was out of shape and couldn’t really play more than 15 effective minutes in a game.

Part of this was the team being very cautious with their young star, but some of it was that Zion simply wasn’t ready to go.

A 20-year old super-athlete should be able to take a week off without completely losing his form. This has to concern the New Orleans Pelicans.

But there are more worrying things.
