New Orleans Pelicans: Zion Williamson still looks injured and out of shape.

The Knee, the Waddle, the Weight

When you see some of the things Zion can already do, it’s hard to believe that he is 20-years-old. He already has a veterans’ feel for the game, nice passing touch and solid footwork.

But when I see him favoring his bum knee, waddling around like he is an old man and carrying too much weight, it also makes me think “This guy is only 20-years-old?”

Zion Williamson has been limping around since he returned in January and never really looked to be 100% recovered from his early-season knee injury.

Considering he is only 20, his failure to recover from an injury should be very concerning. Every time Zion Williamson hits the deck, I wonder if he is going to get up, which is not normal for someone so young.

Zion didn’t move well at all after his return, couldn’t hustle back on defense, was clearly limping and sucking wind.

Again, he’s 20-years-old, so it has to be very worrying that he is already moving around like a 10-year vet.

I’m making this comparison whilst furiously knocking on wood, but Zion has some Greg Oden vibe to him, a guy with a ton of talent in a weird body that can’t stay healthy.

I don’t want to sound like an alarmist, but Zion Williamson does not look like the same athlete that was flying around at Duke.

He’s got a weird waddle when he walks, doesn’t have the same lift and looks to be carrying some extra weight.

Zion has the whole offseason to put these concerns to rest, get in shape and come back to take over Thanos-style, but his lingering injury and body problems have to concern the New Orleans Pelicans.
