It Would Be Foolish for the New Orleans Pelicans to Trade Lonzo Ball

With the New Orleans Pelicans season officially over, many fans want to blame the team’s underperformance on their young core, specifically Lonzo Ball.

Lonzo Ball, who is the Pelicans franchise point was in the midst of a breakout year until the team got to the NBA’s restart bubble in Orlando, that’s when his performance went from great to concerning.

Ball’s scoring averages dropped in half, and his shooting splits plummeted to among the worst in the league. Many reports have now attributed this to Lonzo Ball being “checked out” the entire time the Pelicans were in Orlando.

With his poor performance and attitude, many Pelicans fans are pushing the idea that the organization should be looking to trade Lonzo Ball. That’s a notion that needs to stop now.

Did Lonzo Ball underwhelm in Orlando? Yes.

Was he the only reason the team failed? No.

It would be one of the franchise’s biggest mistakes to give up on Lonzo Ball now, especially with the flashes of greatness he’s already shown. Lonzo Ball is a cornerstone for this franchise and if people need to be reminded of that then here are three reasons why giving up on Ball would be a mistake.
